I'm often asked how I ended up working with feet. The truth? Reflexology wasn’t always part of my plan—but looking back, every step led me here.
Taking a Leap of Faith: From Corporate World to Holistic Healing
For over 20 years, I worked in human resources and labor relations, navigating the complexities of collective agreements, job classifications, recruitment strategies, and workplace negotiations. My role was to provide expertise that helped organizations make informed decisions, often balancing the needs of both employers and employees. It was demanding work that required focus and problem-solving, and while I was good at it, something was missing. I wanted more than just a job—I wanted purpose, something that also fed my heart and soul.
That pull had always been there, quietly nudging me. I still remember the first time I stepped into a metaphysical shop during university, drawn in by shiny crystals and pendulums. I didn’t know why, but I had to take one home. That pendulum is still with me today—a quiet reminder of where my journey truly began.
Curiosity led me deeper. I explored Reiki, astrology, and energy healing. I took a Parapsychology course that was actually offered at university! I completed my Usui Reiki Level 1, and filled my bookshelves with everything from metaphysical studies to holistic wellness. I sought out experiences that fed my soul—ghost tours, gong baths, anything that deepened my connection to the unseen world.
Following the Nudge Toward Healing
Life has a way of guiding us, even when we don’t realize it. When my family moved from Saskatchewan to Vancouver Island, that quiet pull toward energy work became impossible to ignore.
I continued my Reiki journey, becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher attuned to multiple styles and being initiated in the rites of the Munay Ki. My fascination with crystals led me to become a certified crystal healing practitioner. My love for herbs deepened, and I completed an eight-month herbal apprenticeship, learning to craft salves, tinctures, and natural remedies. I explored sound healing and vibrational essences, discovering how different healing elements could work together.
Then, I discovered Reflexology. I’ve always been fascinated with Traditional Chinese Medicine and was trained in Classic Occidental, Traditional Asian, and Integrated Reflexology, and before long, I was offering sessions on the weekends under the name Reflexology by Samantha. A few years later I decided to take a leap of faith and transition from a full time job in Labour Relations to running my own business.
The Foot Alchemist
As my practice grew, I realized I was blending more than just reflexology into my sessions. I was weaving together touch, energy work, crystals, sound, and intention—creating experiences that supported transformation from the soles to the soul. That’s when The Foot Alchemist was born.
Alchemy is about transformation—taking separate elements and combining them to create something even more powerful. Reflexology on its own is deeply restorative, but when woven together with Reiki, crystal healing, and sound therapy, it becomes an immersive experience—one that shifts energy, restores balance, and encourages personal growth.
As my work evolved, so did my desire to support healing beyond individual sessions. I co-founded Soul Sisters Apothecary with Sandi from Knead It or Knot Massage, creating herbal teas, Bach Flower remedies, and natural wellness products to help others on their journeys.
My curiosity kept pushing me further. I became a Certified Soul Realignment® Practitioner, learning how to access the Akashic Records to help clients understand their divine gifts and clear limiting patterns. Hot Stone Massage had also been a vital part of my own healing and self-care, so I trained further in anatomy and Hot Stone Massage—another offering to help clients reach deep relaxation.
Healing Isn’t Just What I Do—It’s Who I Am
I’m not just a practitioner—I’m a person on this journey, too. I still have moments of doubt, I still get overwhelmed, and I still seek out the things that nourish me. Whether it’s diving into new healing techniques, getting lost in a book on energy work, walking along the beach to clear my mind, or attending workshops to refine my skills, I continue to learn, grow, and evolve.
One thing I know for sure—no two clients, and no two feet, are the same. Each session is an opportunity to meet someone where they are, with kindness, compassion, and authenticity.
If you’re ready to take the next step on your healing journey, I’d love to walk alongside you.
With warmth & gratitude,
Samantha
